No matter how successful a company may be, that success doesn't make them immune from producing a complete flop. Outside of the operating system space, I think of Nintendo and their release of the Virtual Boy. This was a company that had experienced unbelievable success in the video game market with the creation of characters such as Mario and Donkey Kong, but that success didn't translate over to the release of their 3D gaming console.
