Since AMD's reorganization and the outsourcing of the semiconductor factories AMD Saxony there is a new player in the sector of microprocessor production: The Globalfoundries. Fab 1 is located in Dresden, Germany, with manufacturing plant Modul 1 (formerly Fab 36) and Modul 2 (formerly Fab 38).
In Modul 1, the first 300 mm Wafer production plant from Globalfoundries, AMD CPUs with 45 and 65 nanometer structures are produced. Modul 2 is currently converted into a 300 mm Wafer plant. Production is supposed to begin in late 2009.
