The latest Windows 7 rumor is that the operating system may be available as soon as October 15, 2009, but it's uncertain whether this applies for the OEM or the retail version:
The rumors about the release of Windows 7 aren't coming to an end. After Acer Executive Bobby Watkins had mentioned October 23 and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer targeted the holiday season, Paul Thurrott - the person behind the usually well informed website Supersite for Windows - now wants to have learned that Windows 7 will be launched on October 15, 2009. Possible since October 15 is a Thursday this year and Thursdays are quite popular days for diverse software launches.
